On July 22, at 15:30 , presentation of Professor Elguja Khintibidze’s monograph “The Knight in the panther’s skin – traces in Shakespeare’s literature” was held at at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The monograph was funded by SRNSF under project “The Knight in the panther’s skin - traces in Shakespeare’s literary heritage". The event was organized by Georgian Studies Center, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Humanities.

2016 AERA Annual Meeting

American Educational Research Organization (AERA) 2016 Annual Meeting sessions was held during 8-12 April at Washington D.C., USA, in order to celebrate the association’s 100th anniversary. Topic of the conference “Public Scholarship to Educate Diverse Democracies”. International conference “Actual Economy: Local solutions for Global Challenges - AC€ - 16+”

Sulkhan Tabaghua, the first year student of economics PhD program, faculty of Business and Economics, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, took part in the international conference “Actual Economy: Local solutions for Global Challenges - AC€ - 16+” held during 20-21 May, 2016 at Helsinki. The participation was funded by SRNSF under Call for travel grants 2016. At the conference, Sulkhan have a speech on the following topic: “Optimal measures taken by the government of Georgia and economic growth in the country”. Sulkhan was given an opportunity to publish his works at science magazine “ACTUAL PROBLEMS OF ECONOMICS“(indexed at SCOPUS).

International Summer School of Georgian Studies “Georgian Manuscript”

On July 19, at 10:00, Korneli Kekelidze National Centre of Manuscripts opened Georgian Studies International Summer School “Georgian Manuscript” with the support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation.    The summer school is for international researchers and representatives of Georgian universities (masters’ students, PhD students, masters and PhDs) who are interested in history and culture especially study of manuscripts. Their interests are in line with the main scientific directions of Korneli Kekelidze National Centre of Manuscripts (old Georgian philology, study of water, study of archive, culture of handwritten book, restoration, digitalization etc.). The aim of the project is supporting development of science and attracting international scientists with Georgian culture as well as supporting future collaboration of Georgian and international scientists. Duration of the summer school is from July 19 until July 28, 2016.

Summer School for Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology

Summer school for applied bioscience and biotechnology opened on July 11, at 10:00, organize by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation funded this project. Duration of the summer school is until July 15, 2016. The aim of the seasonal school is supporting professional development and raising qualifications of masters and PhD students in the fields of applied bioscience and biotechnology and related fields of science, by means of providing 1-week duration theoretical and practical study course. The objective of this seasonal school is to show to young scientists the potential of researches made in the biotechnology science field for solving problems and for human wellbeing. Summer school was attended by the students of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and its partner universities, namely: Agricultural University of Georgia, Ilia State University, Akaki Tsereteli State University, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University. Summer school for applied bioscience and biotechnology was supported by Agricultural University of Georgia, The University of the West of England , Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Alcalá, Yerevan State University , The George Eliava Institute of Bacteriophage, Microbiology and Virology, LLC Vine Laboratory.

Economics of Commodities

The presentation of the book – “Economics of Commodities” edited by A. Tvalchrelidze, T. Berberashvili, and M. Otarashvili, was held on 21 th  of june at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia. The book represents a monographic investigation of the world commodity markets, resources, production, processing schedules, consumption, exports & imports, strategic stockpiles, etc. of the main primary commodities. Basic commodity producing companies, world commodity flows, corresponding infrastructure (pipelines, tanker & LNG fleet, ports, terminals, etc.), pricing as well as influence of commodities on geoeconomics and geopolitics are thoroughly described. A novel methodology of economic analysis has been worked out, and economic models of the world as well as of commodity producing and exporting countries were elaborated, where the GDP is described in commodity terms. Possibilities of Georgia‘s involvement in world commodity markets are discussed and a corresponding sustainable commodity policy is proposed. The book has a multidisciplinary character. It may be interesting for geologists, mineralogists, mine engineers, commodity analysts, international and general economists, experts in international economy and politics, master and post-graduate students in the mentioned fields, public servants, investors at international commodity markets, simply for general public. Publication of the book was financed by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation

The 1574 Great Defter of Gurcistan Vilayet

The presentation of the book- “The 1574 Great Defter of Gurcistan Vilayet” was  held On 10 th of June 2016 at the  first building of  Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The book was published  in  the  frame of  scientific  project (31/34)  funded by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. The presentation was attended by acting  rector  of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Prof. Darejan Tvaltvadze,  Ambassador of Turkey in Georgia  Zeki Levent Gumrukchu  and representatives of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, Institute of Yunus Emre and University Society.

“Anthim Iverianul and European Enlightenment: Texts and Contexts”

On June 7-8, 2016 the Institute of Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the Anthim Iverianul Philosophy and Theology Research Center, with the support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and State Agency for Religious Issues hold an international conference “Anthim Iverianul and European Enlightenment: Texts and Contexts” (# CG16_i_6_29) The primary objective of the conference was to define the role and place of Anthim Iverianul’s activities in modern culture and to highlight Anthim Iverianul’s version about foundation of multiculturalism; The conference aims at focusing on cultural-historical significance of Anthim Iverianul’s philosophical-theological, educational, secular and ecclesiastical activities, it helps to submit the new ways of development of Georgian theological and philosophical thought.
