Economics of Commodities
The presentation of the book – “Economics of Commodities” edited by A. Tvalchrelidze, T. Berberashvili, and M. Otarashvili, was held on 21 th of june at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.
The book represents a monographic investigation of the world commodity markets, resources, production, processing schedules, consumption, exports & imports, strategic stockpiles, etc. of the main primary commodities. Basic commodity producing companies, world commodity flows, corresponding infrastructure (pipelines, tanker & LNG fleet, ports, terminals, etc.), pricing as well as influence of commodities on geoeconomics and geopolitics are thoroughly described. A novel methodology of economic analysis has been worked out, and economic models of the world as well as of commodity producing and exporting countries were elaborated, where the GDP is described in commodity terms. Possibilities of Georgia‘s involvement in world commodity markets are discussed and a corresponding sustainable commodity policy is proposed. The book has a multidisciplinary character. It may be interesting for geologists, mineralogists, mine engineers, commodity analysts, international and general economists, experts in international economy and politics, master and post-graduate students in the mentioned fields, public servants, investors at international commodity markets, simply for general public.
