On November 4, 2016 at the Hotel "Betsy" conference room (s Makashvilis k.№ 32-34) During the International conference - “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin” and its Place in the World Literature, Modern Interpretations” (The conference is dedicated to 850th Anniversary of the creation of Shota Rustaveli’s masterpiece “Knight in the Panther’s Skin”) Held presentation of the Scientific collection "the Term, Concept and Paradigm in the “Knight in the Panther’s Skin".
Goal of the Project, funded by SRNSF, “Term, Concept and Paradigm in the “Knight in the Panther’s Skin” was studying of the paradigmatic images-symbols and specific concept-terms. Ideological contents of the poem cannot be adequately interpreted without gaining retrospective understanding and knowing of the creative function of each concept, term, paradigmatic image and symbol.
Each issue provided for by the project was worked with due regard of the traditional and most recent scientific literature. Periodically we were issuing the scientific publications. 2 scientific conferences were held and finally the collection of works “Term, Concept and Paradigm in the “Knight in the Panther’s Skin” was published, publishing house “Mtsignobari”, Tbilisi, 2016 (304 pages). Collection includes the works by Lia Karichashvili (Project Scientific Manager), Mariam Karbelashvili, Nana Gonjilashvili, Tamar Khvedeliani and Lia Tsereteli. Introduction was written by Vano Amiranashvili, Collection of works includes the summary in Georgian and English languages.
In our opinion, the Collection of Works will be useful for the scientific, pedagogical audience and students interested in Rustaveli’s art and generally, literature of his epoch. Problems stated by Rustaveli are always important, given their national and universal significance. And today’s scientific and pedagogical environment requires clear understanding of Rustaveli’s concepts-terms and image-symbols and their adaptation to today’s environment. This is the necessary condition for understanding of Rustaveli’s creative world.
The work has significant potential, not only for researches in the sphere of Rustaveli studies and generally, for literature criticism but for interdisciplinary researches as well as it offers discussion of concept-terms and realities of political, philosophical, legal, social, ethical, theological, economic, folklore, geographical, ethnic and culturological nature.
The Collection will be also useful for the comparative studies, as it highlights the intercultural communications. It is clear that Rustaveli’s model combines image-symbols and concept-terms of western and oriental literature, as well as the Bible and general literature.
Work will be helpful for development of the special Rustaveli dictionaries, as it provides justification of the meaning of certain lexemes, with respective contexts.
We regard that the work will be of interest not only for the scientific audience, teachers and students but also for general readers.
