Wardrop Strategic Dialogue Meeting
On November 8, 2018, as part of the 5 th round of the "Wardrop Strategic Dialogue” Between Georgia and the United Kingdom, a meeting was held under the “People to People pillar” to discuss the issues of interpersonal relations, culture, education and science.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement, International Education Center, the National Library, Tbilisi City Hall. The United Kingdom was represented by the British Embassy, the British Council Georgia, the Good Governance Fund Program in Georgia, the British Library. The meeting focused on the ongoing cooperation in the field of education, science and culture and successful projects between Georgia and the United Kingdom. Sides also considered new initiatives for stronger cooperation in the field of Education and Culture.
Dr. Zviad Gabisonia, the Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, reviewed the cooperation between the foundation and the United Kingdom. He underlined the Joint Research Programme of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and the University of Oxford ,,Georgian Studies Research Programme 2018 ”, which has been successfully implementing by the Foundation, since 2015. In the framework of the program, the joint commission of Oxford University and the Foundation will select young scientists to implement scientific research project at Oxford University.
Dr. Zviad Gabisonia expressed hope for further cooperation perspectives between SRNSFG and the British research institutions not only in frames of the joint research programme, but also in terms of sharing experience in Science policy development and implementation.
