SRNSF announces call for Young Scientists 2016

The aim of the program is to support enhancement of research quality thought promoting research projects; to develop research skills and thematic or interdisciplinary collaboration; to improve and strengthen Georgian higher educational institutions’ research activities. Call for Young Scientists 2016 is open to various fields of science (sub-fields are listed in the classification- Annex 9 ) : Natural Sciences; Engineering and Technology; Medical and health Sciences; Agricultural Sciences; Humanities Social Sciences; Georgian Studies Project proposals and relevant documentation must be submitted in two languages – English and Georgian. Applicants are responsible for the quality of English translation! Project final evaluation score is calculated based on the evaluation scores, received from the independent experts. The documentation to be submitted at the foundation consists of two parts :   a)  Project that is filled online, in electronic database, in English language comprises of the following parts : Project proposal; Budget and budget justification; Project implementation timeframe; CV of Young Scientist; CV of Mentor; CV of a consultant (if applicable); Project resume; Letter of consent from the Mentor; Letter of consent from the Consultant (if applicable). The same documents in Georgian language are uploaded in the database in single PDF format . b)  Additional document to the project are gathered and uploaded in the database in a single PDF format.  These additional documents include: Letter of consent form for higher educational institution or legal/physical body (if applicable) about free of charge usage of material-technical base by the Young Scientist (not the host institution); Copies of identification documents of the Young Scientist; documents certifying academic degree (PhD diploma) (in case of diploma issued by the foreign institution, a letter from the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of Georgia on the diploma recognition, should be attached); Banking account details (in GEL) of the Young Scientist; Banking account details of the Host Institution (Legal Entities of Public Law should provide Treasury registration code; non-entrepreneurial, non-commercial legal entities and authorized higher educational institutions should provide organizational bank account number); Document defining legal status of the host institution: extract from public register and the statute (higher educational institutions, who are Legal Entities of Public Law, may not provide the statute); Letter of agreement on co-funding (in case such exist), indicating the amount of co-funding, signed and stamped; Certificate of employment, indicating Mentor’s academic degree (issued by the host institution); Certificate of employment, indicating Consultant’s (in case such exist) academic degree. (Georgian consultant residing abroad, who provides his/her details in the CV form indicated at the organization’s website, may not submit the certificate). Project submitted to the foundation should be prepared in accordance to the forms indicated while the call announcement!   Documentation to be submitted at the foundation office: Application form with the project code indicated should be submitted at the foundation office (Annex 8) . The document must have signatures and stamps.    Project proposal should be submitted at the foundation office not later than 1 July 2016, 16:00 . According to #78 decree of SRNSF Director General, article 7, point 10, dated April 22, 2016, regarding the terms of the basic research 2016 call (annex 1), total number of pages of the English versions of the annexes 3-10 should not exceed 35 pages. Consequently, the number of pages of annex 2 should not be included in the count.

A ccordingly, the number of pages of annex 2 should not included in the count.

Call for Travel Grants 2016 results

The goal of short-term individual travel grants is to support Georgian scientists to participate in international activities in order to strengthen the local scientific potential by exchanging information and experience between Georgian and international scientists. Thus, to help Georgian scientists to integrate into international scientific communities. Overall, 133 proposals were submitted  for the call of 2016 out of which 25 proposals were cancelled  due to their incompliance to the call terms and conditions (proposals were cancelled by SRSNF Director General Decree). Decree of the Director General on cancelled proposals. Submitted proposals were evaluated in line with the criteria under the Georgian Government Resolution #30, dated February 20, 2008. Subsequently, 38 proposals were selected for funding. List of proposals evaluated by the committee Decree of the Director General on approving the selected projects

LEPL - Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation Announces Collaborative Research Project Call (compatriots call) 2016

Collaborative research grant with compatriots as an instrument for scientists funding, is an opportunity for the collaboration between scientists from Georgia and compatriots. The overall objective of the Collaborative Research Projects call (compatriots call) is to intensify the process of involvement of successful Georgian scientists working abroad into joint activities in order to improve standards of research in Georgia. Close cooperation with successful Georgian scientists working abroad will give an opportunity to local researchers to raise their awareness on state of art in developed countries and to adopt modern research methods. The implementation of the joint projects will enable scientific Diasporas’ representatives to have permanent business contacts with home country and to make use of their knowledge and experience to raise the level of science in Georgia. An important component of the Program is involvement of young scientists in research projects, designed to support development of their scientific potential and integration in international scientific network. Collaborative Research Project Call (compatriots call) is open to various fields of science: Natural Sciences; Engineering and Technology; Medical and health Sciences; Agricultural Sciences; Humanities Social Sciences; Georgian Studies The foundation will fund institutional grant proposals only. Eligibility: Host and/or co-participant Institution  – Legal Entities of Public Law, established in accordance to the Georgian legislation, non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entities registered in Georgia, aiming at developing scientific research; higher educational institutions; Key personnel  – Master’s students, PhD students, applicants having Master’s degree or PhD or an equivalent degree;   Outsourcing proposed projects’ evaluation to the international independent experts. Therefore, project proposals and relevant documentation must be submitted in two languages – English and Georgian. English version of the proposals are sent to the international experts for evaluation. Applicants (PI and the host institution) are responsible for the quality of English translation.
