The registration of scientists in the database of experts of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia is in progress

The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia extends the registration of Georgian and international scientists in the experts' database of the Foundation. The database should be filled out in Georgian and in English. International experts are required to fill in only the English version. According to the new legislation, initiated by the Parliament of Georgia (General Administrative Codex, Article 21, Item 7. Date of change: 16.06.2017), identities of the experts who take part in the peer review and evaluation process of scientific proposals submitted through a call for proposals, are confidential. According to the law on “Development of Science and Technology”, amended on 16 th of June, 2017, Article 51, Item 4, identities of the experts who partake in the evaluation process of the projects submitted through calls for proposals administered by a science foundation, are confidential.  Please note, that experts will be selected according to their scientific productivity (c, h Index) and participation in international scientific events and conferences. Second meeting with the consortium representatives of Georgian institutions

On the 2-nd of August, second meeting was held in the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation with the consortium representatives of Georgian institutions. Participants discussed concrete conditions of the collaboration with Clarivate Analytics and specific details of the agreement. The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation jointly lead negotiations with Clarivate Analytics , in order to make access to several products of the company possible for the consortium members. Following representatives of the consortium attended the meeting: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences; National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – Sakpatenti; Ilia State University; Georgian Technical University; Tbilisi State Medical University; Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University; Sokhumi State University; International Black Sea University; Free University of Tbilisi; Georgian Aviation University.

Meeting with Prof. Christoph Kratky, international expert in science

On July 28,  the meeting was held at the Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation between Georgian scientists on the one hand and international expert in science, former president of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) Prof. Dr. Christoph Kratky. Prof. Kratky will support the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia to fulfill requirements of the EU- Georgia Association Agreement and meet international standards in terms of STI development in Georgia. The following topics were covered during the meeting: activities and strategy of the Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation, international collaboration opportunities for Georgian researchers, support to junior scientists etc.

On the 26-th of July, meeting was held in the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation with the consortium representatives of Georgian institutions. Participants discussed conditions of collaboration with Clarivate Analytics . The company gathers and analyses data in the field of science and innovation. In the basis of Clarivate Analytics following information can be found: scientific and academic research, patent analytics and regulatory standards, trademark protection, intellectual property management, etc. In addition, Clarivate Analytics owns one of the leading international online publishing companies Web of Science , which unites the newest scientific literature, articles, books, etc, as well as material from the past century (1990-2017). The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation jointly lead negotiations with Clarivate Analytics , in order to make access to several products of the company possible for the consortium members. The Presentation of "Georgian Military Encyclopedic Dictionary"

On July 25 th , 2017, the presentation of the first "Georgian Military Encyclopedic Dictionary" was held at  the "Army hall" of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. The guests invited to the presentation talked about the importance and the practical purpose of the publication. Levan Izoria, Minister of Defense of Georgia,  Deputy editor of chief, Major-General Tengiz Shubladze, Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, Manana Mikaberidze, Rector of Georgian Technical University, Archil Frangishvili and former Minister of Defence, David Tevzadze, discussed the Military Encyclopedic Dictionary and emphasized the importance and  practical dignity of the publication. Alongside the academician, General Major Elguja Medzmariashvili, the editorial group - General Mayors Tengiz Shubladze and Vakhtang Kapanadze, as well as other authors and compilers, collaborated to create encyclopedic dictionary. The creation of the "Georgian Military Encyclopedic Dictionary" was supported by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation’ Grant.. The aim of the project was to create a complete, systematized and classified work on a full range of military concepts in the Georgian language, which, in turn, would be in full compliance with the NATO, its Member States with the other states and their normative materials. Additionally, the dictionary restores and updates the latest data on the historical and military theory of military art in Georgia. The project was implemented by the Georgian Technical University , together with the specialists invited by the Institute of Buildings, Special Systems and Engineering Maintenanceand Military Specialists. After the completion of the translation of existing terms, processing the data and bringing materials up to date, the work has been formed, with a volume of 4200 terms.

Visit of the President of Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia

On July 22 nd ,  within the framework of the visit of the President of Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) Prof. Arif Ergin, Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (SRNSF) organized meetings with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation in order to deepen the cooperation between Turkey and Georgia. the visit, The attendees of the meeting at the Ministry of Education and Science included: Prof. Arif Ergin, a representative of the International Relations Directorate of the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Board (TUBITAK), a Head of the EU Framework Program Department Ms. Selda Ulutas and the Acting Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia, Ms. Muteber Kilichi. Representetives from the Georgian side included: Mr. Teimuraz Murghulia, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Kakha Khandolishvili, Head of Strategic Planning and International Relations Department of the Ministry, Mr. Manana (Mako) Makaberidze, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and Ms. Mariam Keburia, Head of the Foreign Relations and Fundraising Office of SRNSF. The attendees of the meeting discussed the prospects of deepening scientific cooperation between the two countries and the possibilities of expanding ongoing bilateral cooperation. The Turkish side has expressed readiness to share the experience to relevant institutions of Georgia to enhance the involvement of Georgian scientists in the EU Framework programme " Horizon 2020". For this purpose, the delegation of the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council developed a special concept and requested the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation to plan joint specific activities. Mr. Teimuraz Murgulia invited Prof. Arif Ergin to the scientific festival of Georgia planned in September, 2017.

Visit of the President of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) at the Foundation

Introductory meeting of representatives from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) with the representatives of Georgian Scientific Institutions was held on July 22 nd , at the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, as a part of the visit of the President of Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK), Prof. Arif Ergin.   Prof. Arif Ergin, a representative of the International Relations Directorate of the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Board (TUBITAK), a Head of the EU Framework Program Department - Ms. Selda Ulutas and the Acting Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia, Ms. Muteber Kilichi, attended the meeting with the Representatives from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Ilia State University, Tbilisi State Medical University, Georgian Technical University, Georgian Agrarian University, George Eliava Bacteriophage, Microbiology and Virusology Research Institute, Ivane Beritashvili's Experimental Biomedicine Center, Korneli Kekelidze National Center of Manuscripts and Georgian National Museum.The meeting concluded, that the bilateral cooperation between the Foundation and TUBITAK, which provides support for joint research projects and for mobility projects, will continue and become more extensive. Prof. Arif Ergin got acquainted with the institutions and the priorities of the scientific cooperation with Turkey, as well as with the possibilities of future cooperation. In case of interest and willingness from both sides, a scientific event (Forum) may be held with the participation of Georgian and Turkish scientists, which will provide an opportunity for networking for the researchers, in order to develop a concept of a joint project. Prof. Arif Ergen confirmed the growing interest of cooperation with Georgian instututions from the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK).
