Results of the Scientific-Research Grant Call for

The winners of the Scientific-Research Grant Call for " Halyomorpha Halys Elimination State Programme 2018" have been selected. Overall, 9 proposals have been submitted within the frame of the grant call. Group of international experts evaluated all 9 projects according to the evaluation criteria approved by the decree N77 of SRNSFG Director General, dated as of June 14, 2018. As a result 4 projects have been selected for funding. FRONTIER RESEARCH AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The conference will take stock of relevant research supported by ERC, provide a forum of networking between the scientists leading ERC-funded projects, and position the ERC as a contributor to Artificial Intelligence (AI) through its 'bottom up' approach to research funding (see also the final programme). Black sea littoral as literary and cultural space

On October 25-27, 2018 Ilia State University hosted conference concerning scientific project “Black sea littoral as literary and cultural space”, funded by Shota Rustaveli National Foundation of Georgia in frames of grant call for mobility and international scientific collaboration. Conference was opened on October 25 at 09:30. Among distinguished guests were, Mr. Eric Tosatti first councilor of French Embassy, Institutional and scientific cooperation attache of French institute of Georgia Ms. Eleonor Garnier and Ms Ketevan Kurcikidze – coordinator of linguistic and educational programs at French Institute of Georgia. On October 25 was also presented 5 th edition of magazine EISH, which includes materials of scientific conference - “21 challenges of 21 st century: humanitarian and social sciences”, funded by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. On October 26 was conducted round table, attended by invited guests and Georgian scientists. Participants discussed consortium forming processes in Horizon 2020 programme of 2019. Next workshop for this issue is planned on October 31. Conference was closed on October 27. Participants of the event were given certificates for contribution and invited foreigner guests received souvenir Albums about Georgia and Georgian Culture.

Consultation meeting

On October 26 2018, at 16:00 was held second consultation meeting for “Research and Education Grant Project for Master Students 2018” in the auditorium №107 of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Call coordinators introduced terms and conditions of the call to attending audience and answered the questions of future applicants.

Second International Congress of Oncologic Urology

On October 26, 2018 at 09:00, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted International Congress in Oncologic Urology. This Congress is funded by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, MMT Hospital and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Dr. Zviad Gabisonia, the Director General of the Foundation addressed the guests at the event. Leading scientists and doctors were participating in the congress from various countries - USA, Germany, Sweden, France, Italy, Belgium, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The fight against Urologic Diseases is an important topic in today's world medicine. There are completely new approaches and recommendations to defeat these pathologies. The main goal of the Congress is to share the innovations in this field and participation of Georgian doctors in the development of modern world medicine. New strategies and tactics of treatment are widely introduced in Urology. Internationally recognized experts of various fields will summarize existing scientific innovations, exchange their views and discuss. This will provide scientific-practical and clinical progress, enhance the knowledge of professionals, experience, and introduce progressive ideas.  The Congress is multidisciplinary - it involves Urologists, Oncologists, Radiologists and Path anatomies from different countries.

Tbilisi State Medical University hosted conference on “Chronical neurologic imbalances – approaches of electronic healthcare”

On October 26, at 10:00 Tbilisi State Medical University hosted international conference on “Chronical neurologic imbalances – approaches of electronic healthcare”. Conference served as a reviewing and summarizing event of Applied Research Grant call winner project “Prototype of E-health in sleep disorders - Georgian digital cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) version for patients with insomnia”, administered by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. Conference was opened by the Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria. Event was welcomed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Director General of Centre of Excellence for Epilepsy and Sleep Medicine, Chairman of Federation of Netherlands Sleep Centre and representative of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. In conference participated representatives of Georgian medical science field and leading specialists of neurology from Austria, Scotland, Netherlands etc.

SRNSFG informs you that on October 26, 2018, technical failure has occurred. Accordingly, amendments in the terms of the SRNSFG ongoing calls are made. Electronic registration within the frame of the state grant call for the Applied Research are changed as follows: Deadline for electronic registration – October 31, 16:00 Deadline for submitting the statement at the SRNSFG office – November 1, 16:00 Please, find the amendment in the decree N 99 approved by the SRNSFG Director General, dated as of July 13, 2018.

Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and Forschungszentrum - Jülich announce “Joint Research and Education Programme for Master and PhD Students”

Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and Forschungszentrum - Jülich announce “Joint Research and Education Programme for Master and PhD Students”. Call abbreviation: JFZ Aim of the call: Research and education joint call between LEPL Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and Forschungszentrum - Jülich aims to give future opportunity to Master and PhD students, to conduct fundamental and applied research, linked to their thesis field, at Jülich research centers. Also, programme aims to support German side, to attract and encourage successful students of Georgian high-educational institutions and involve them in scientific activities of Master and PhD programs. Only individual project proposals will be accepted. General terms of the call: Participation is open only for Master and PhD students under 30 and who have active status of student at Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Georgian Technical University, Ilia State University, Agrarian University of Georgia and other Georgian universities (in coordination with center). Joint call will fund maximum 3 PhD and 3 Master students, in frames of which they will be able to conduct research linked to their thesis field, at Jülich research centers and have scientific cooperation with researchers and scientists from research centers and universities, in several fields: Math Sciences; Information Technologies; Natural Sciences; Engineering Sciences; Life Sciences and Medical Sciences. For Master students: Duration of research internship, funded in frames of this call must be in full compliance with programme curriculum of particular Georgian Master programme on which student is studying. Monthly scholarship of research internship for Master student is 900 EUR equivalent for GEL. For PhD students: Duration of funded research internship for PhD student is defined for 3 year period. Monthly scholarship of research internship for PhD student is 1400 EUR equivalent for GEL. Grant funding will be divided equally between parties. 50% of funding will be covered by SRNSFG and 50% will be covered by Forschungszentrum - Jülich. Meeting with the World Bank Representatives

On September 23, 2018 Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia hosted a working meeting with the representatves of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, World Bank in Georgia and the foundation. The meeting was dedicated to the perspectives of cooperation among these institutions. The parties discussed the importance of supporting young scientists and strengthening innovative and applied research perspectives. At the meeting, the Director General of SRNSFG expressed full readiness on behalf of the Foundation, to work out and implement joint activities quickly and efficiently.
